The Blindsided – NJ PA Miscarriage Stillbirth NICU Infant Loss Support

A podcast and support group for NJ/PA/DE families who have endured miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or infant loss

Amber Swartz

Amber is a mom, wife (CONGRATS!), friend, hair artist, and true light from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Interviewing Amber was a pleasure, she possesses a truly positive vibe, light, and soul. She lives with her husband Nick in Philadelphia, PA (and their doggy!) and gave birth to their son Lucas James on April 26, 2023. His heart stopped beating at 40 weeks gestation, due to what the doctors are saying was a Fetal-Maternal Hemorrhage .

Prior to losing Lucas, Amber had been thriving for the past 15 years as a hairstylist. However after losing him, she’s not quite sure where her journey will take her professionally. She and her fiancé are avid CrossFit athletes and enjoy living a healthy lifestyle.

Her birth plan resembled that healthy lifestyle, and included using a doula, hypno-birthing, affirmation cards and little/no medicine. Plans changed when she found out Lucas passed away, and she then opted for no doula, an epidural and even asked for a C-Section. With the help of her OB, she was convinced that birthing her son naturally would be a better option for recovery given her active lifestyle, to which Amber is now glad she made the decision to take that advice.

Amber is able to survive her experiences by attending therapy, joining a virtual support group, maintaining open communication with her spouse, and moving her body with daily walks and other hormone friendly movement-pilates and yoga. She has an upcoming event on January 21, 2024 at Tara Giorgio’s space in Northern Liberties.
