THE BLINDSIDED
A Perinatal Loss Podcast and Support Network
Welcome to the Blindsided Podcast
Welcome to the Blindsided podcast, a source of support for those going through pregnancy, infant, or child loss. This unexpected and devastating experience can leave us wholly blindsided, not only by the event itself but also by the fact that it could happen to us or those close to us. Our mission is to provide a safe space for those who have been blindsided, to share their heartfelt stories about the babies they cherished.
Throughout these episodes, we will feature stories of dearly missed children, narrated by their mothers, birthing or non-birthing partners, fathers, siblings, or grandparents. By sharing these experiences, we aim to offer solace and guidance to those who are newly blindsided, showing that it’s possible to endure and find hope, knowing that others have been through similar journeys and comprehend their pain.
Our goal is to resonate with individuals who seek understanding and hope during these challenging times of grief.
Stay updated by subscribing to our podcast wherever you get your podcasts, and together, let’s find strength and hope in the shared experiences of these remarkable families and their beloved children.
Emily Long once said, “There are few people more invisible on Mother’s Day than the mother who has lost her only child.”
I discovered this to hold absolute truth in my personal experience of grief, extending beyond just Mother’s Day. Numerous holidays and significant “firsts” are overlooked, and each time, there’s an unavoidable ache. Even if you have other children, the absence of that special piece remains unrecognized. The Blindsided podcast aims to recognize and honor every baby in every narrative shared. Your little ones hold immense importance to us.

Meet Our Hosts

Nicole Bruno, BSN, RNC-OB, CSN-NJ
First and foremost, I’m a mom to Sammy, my 4 year old son and a wife to Jay, my husband of 8 years. I’ve been a nurse for 10 years, and have been helping families experiencing stillbirth, pregnancy and infant loss since 2016.
When I was 21, I gave birth to my daughter, Christiana, who was sadly born still on January 19, 2008, her due date. Following her passing, I felt a deep calling to assist other families going through similar challenges. While I will forever cherish being Sammy’s mother, I will never forget Christiana.
In my free time, I enjoy swimming and going to the beach, gardening, cooking, hiking and reading. However, nothing surpasses the importance of spending time with my friends and family.
I’m excited to co-facilitate this podcast as an inclusive space for all grieving families to feel seen and supported.

I’m a professional photographer, mother of two wonderful children, Justin and Brooke, and happily married to my husband Brad for nearly 24 years.
In 2016, after 10 years of volunteering my photography services for the organization NILMDTS, I had the privilege of co-founding a non-profit dedicated to supporting perinatal loss families in our community. Since then, I’ve had the honor of personally serving over 300 families during one of the most difficult days of their lives.
Teaming up with Nicole to co-facilitate a support group has been an incredible and fulfilling experience. Now, through this platform, I’m honored to join her and shed light on the remarkable resilience and hope many families have found, even amidst their profound loss.
