The Blindsided – NJ PA Miscarriage Stillbirth NICU Infant Loss Support

A podcast and support group for NJ/PA/DE families who have endured miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or infant loss

Julie Shapiro

In Memory of Aubrey Rae, Mom Julie Shapiro tells us the story of her pregnancy and birth of her daughter in September 2020 at 38 weeks.

After a completely healthy pregnancy, her world was turned upside down when she was told that her daughter no longer had a heart beat. Her umbilical cord had gotten wrapped around her neck while she was moving into the birth canal.

The hours, days, and months since changed Julie in a way that words cannot explain. Realizing the need to advocate for herself, daughter, and family for everything they needed- time off of work, attention from providers, questions relating to what it was that the insurance company would pay, because no one else would. It was then she chose to no longer going to let the world tell her what she was entitled to, still navigating her grief.

Advocating for herself became Julie’s way of parenting Aubrey, and she now wants to advocate for you and your angels as well through Aubrey’s Advocate.

Thank you so much Julie, for sharing your story and creating these resources for other loss families!
